Data & AI Engineer with a Quantitative Finance background and interest in DevOps. More than 10 years of experience in statistical modelling, hugo and data analysis using various languages and frameworks. Exposed to different sectors, accustomed with multiple cloud providers and data warehouses. Started freelancing and founded LVE Consulting to assist companies in building data pipelines and machine learning models that deliver value and impact.

I started my career as a Quantitative Analyst in the financial sector, although not a pure data science role, there were a lot of similarities. I had to estimate distributions, perform linear and logistic regressions, conduct Monte Carlo simulations and use Gaussian Copula’s. Coding was mainly done in R, VBA and SQL. Additionally I was responsible for data quality, visualizations and coaching junior team members.

In 2019 I made the transition to first Machine Learning and later Data Engineering. Since then I was involved in the following projects:

  • Detection of early stage breast-cancer on tissue scans using neural networks
  • Automatic document processing using AI
  • Setting up a Big Data Platform based on Databricks in Azure
  • Provisioning and configuring a Kubernetes cluster on Azure with Helm and Kustomize
  • Development of a custom search engine based on Python Dash, Elasticsearch and Pyspark
  • Migrating data and pipelines from Hortonworks Data Platform to Cloudera
  • Creating the LVE Consulting website using Azure Static Web Apps, Terraform, Github Codespaces, Github Actions and Hugo
  • Custom Chatbot with RAG using Python, Streamlit, ChromaDB and Azure OpenAI
  • Writing data pipelines in Airflow using Python and SQL
  • Contributing to the Apache Airflow project
  • Migrating data and pipelines to Microsoft Fabric
  • Developing PowerBI reports, dashboards and dataflows
  • Writing data ingestion and transformation pipelines with Azure Data Factory, dbt and Databricks
  • Maintenance of an AI application to anonimyze documents based on Azure OpenAI
